On this trip, you will have an opportunity to experience the raw West Coast. You might be on some Pacific swell one day and faced with a little chop on the waters the next. Hopefully, we can find some wind on our back and enjoy some sailing. The great thing about the Deer Group is there are always places to tuck behind to find some calm waters. These waters are classified as level three so demand an average to high fitness level.
You will be on the unpredictable West Coast waters for five days. Winds, waves, and currents will make your trip unique. Fishing, photography, R and R, meditation, reading time, physical challenge are all options for you to choose. We might even take a hike into a remote lake for a swim.
You will be given a 15.5 foot sit on top Wilderness System Thresher kayak equipped with a Falcon sail and all the required kayak gear including a dry suit. . This kayak has an abundance of storage space for some luxury items. You will be sent a "what to bring list" to review and let us know how we can help if need be. We will leave from Cowichan Bay and take a three hour trip by logging road to Bamfield. We will be on the water by noon, evaluate our options, and begin our adventure.
There are dozens of great beaches to choose a campsite for the night. We will find ourselves on some great sandy or rough rocky beaches that each have there own character and appeal.
