My annual solo trip around Saltspring Island - check. Super sore after the first day - check. Captured the kayaking bug again - check. It was so good to get out on the water and feel the constant movement of water beneath my kayak again. For me it always feels like a reset. I returned a few weeks later this July to Wallace Island and stayed put for five days to do some reading. At first it was strange not moving everyday but it opened an opportunity to get to know some great people. With everything in working order I am ready for the West coast. If anyone is interested in a 3-5 day adventure let me know.
Meister Eckhart said, “God is unnameable and (therefore) Omni-nameable”, and so Meister Eckhart prays, I pray (the unnameable) God to rid me of (the idol I have named) God.”
Chasing the unnameable God is the joy of my life.
For me the experience of God is not found in the certainty of religion but in the mystery of the moment. My writing and life passionately pursue this mystery.
I have been a hockey player, pastor, and entrepreneur. I love life, the outdoors and listening to people's stories. I have been married thirty-nine years to my wife Kelly. Together we have raised four boys. Last year I completed a Wilderness First Aid Course and paddled my kayak for over a hundred hours on five trips. I continue to learn each time I go out and count myself fortunate that we live in such a beautiful part of the world. My writing reflects my passion for the outdoors and my search for truth.
